CIHT Ambassadors

Our members are our greatest asset. Member support of CIHT is critical to our continuing efforts to advance the sector of highways, transportation infrastructure and services.

CIHT ambassadors have a vital role to play in the development of the CIHT. Their activities have a significant influence, not just on the membership but on the stature, image and reputation of the Institution. They can also provide local connectivity with CIHT members and give a local ‘voice’ and presence to the Institution. CIHT ambassadors encourage members to engage with CIHT and facilitate connection to other members.

  • Promote learning
  • Influence the future
  • Promote the value of membership

Support is required in a variety of ways, and we are looking for a range of members who are willing to use their skills, knowledge, and experience to assist CIHT.

What is involved?

  • Encourage colleagues to attend CIHT events and to consider joining the Institution
  • Pass on to prospective members the benefits of membership and details of how to join CIHT
  • Engage with your local Region / Nation / Group - receive details of local events and related activity that may be of interest and promote these within your organisation.
  • Answer basic enquiries about CIHT and Membership and/or putting colleagues in touch with the CIHT Membership Team.
  • Explore opportunities for CIHT staff to come in and talk to colleagues about membership choices and opportunities to gain professional recognition, for example as a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Engineering Technician (EngTech) and Chartered Transport Planning Professional (CTPP)
  • Work with HR colleagues inside your organisation to discuss opportunities to promote CIHT.

What is expected of you?

Time commitment will vary depending on the input(s) chosen by the member. CIHT will not set a specific time period although we will check your willingness to continue at regular periods

We would expect you will be able to demonstrate your suitability for the role of CIHT ambassadors, if required to do so and to demonstrate a commitment to ongoing Professional development as required of all members of CIHT.

What is in it for you?

The chance to be part of an enthusiastic team of professionals and make a real difference to the highways and transportation profession and communities in which we live and work.

The opportunity to:

  • Access professional networking.
  • Expand your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) portfolio
  • Learn about areas of activity outside of your expertise
  • Raise your and your company’s profile
  • Get more involved in CIHT and Region / Nation events

About you

This role will suit members with:

  • A desire to share knowledge and experience with the wider CIHT community via CIHT Connect and other platforms (including for example social media)
  • Availability to provide an input to activities chosen by yourself to suit your working and personal life
