Every time you recruit a new member, you strengthen CIHT. An active and growing membership means greater recognition of highways and transportation professionals, improved knowledge transfer, professional development and networking opportunities for members, and the advancement of the profession. So, why not reach out and share the same valuable opportunities with your colleagues?

    

Five ways to recommend CIHT

1. Send your own message

Your enthusiasm for CIHT is the most powerful message.  Remember to say that you will propose them to make application hassle free.  Below are some links and content which may help.  These include;

2. Make it known that you would be happy to propose or second a colleague

We want to make it as hassle free for you and your colleagues.  Let your contacts know if they want to apply for Associate, Member or Fellow grade that you would be happy to be their proposer or seconder.

Being a Proposer or Seconder is easy and only takes a few minutes

When your colleague is applying please inform them of your member grade and your member number.  Plus provide them with a short statement written by you (min 100 and max 200 words) about their suitability for membership to support their application.

   

3. Share on social media

Active on social media?  Tell those working in the highways and transport sector within your network that you recommend CIHT and that you are happy to propose or second them.

You know your network best and your approach will be authentic and sincere.  However, if you need some inspiration see some ideas for social media below.

   

4. Let us do the work

Simply complete the form and provide us with contact information for an individual who is a candidate for membership and we will take the next step on your behalf. Please can you ensure that you have got consent from your colleague for us contacting them about membership.

Have over 10 people who could be interested in membership within your organisation.  We would be happy to arrange a presentation where we highlight the benefits of membership and answer any questions.

The right membership for them

  • Member (MCIHT): For those with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
  • Fellow (FCIHT): The highest grade of membership of the Institution.
  • Associate (AMCIHT): EITHER 3 years’ experience in the sector in an aligned professional role OR embarking on a technical career with less than 3 years’ experience in the industry.
  • Graduate (GradCIHT): They have completed their degree in the last 18 months and are considering a career in the highways & transportation sector.
  • Student: For those enrolled on a full-time or part time relevant study course.
  • Apprentice: For those currently enrolled on an apprenticeship scheme.

Monthly Free Prize Draw: Terms and Conditions of Entry

Each time you propose a successful applicant you will be entered automatically into a monthly prize draw in which one lucky winner will receive a £50 John Lewis Gift Card.

We will publish the name and town of each month’s winner on our website.

For prize draws, the winning entry will be chosen by random draw performed by a computer process that produces a verifiably random result or by or under the supervision of an independent person from all entries received during the prize draw period.

Only winners will be contacted in relation to the draw.
