Apprenticeships provide a vital route into our sector, providing people with the opportunity to gain a qualification whilst gaining experience in the workplace, and employers with an opportunity to develop the staff they need. Until now there have not been degree level apprenticeships in the construction sector in Wales.
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has launched a consultation on the development of a Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship in Wales. The consultation, which is open for responses, seeks feedback on the skills, knowledge and behaviours for this apprenticeship and CIHT Members who work and employ civil engineers in Wales are actively encouraged to provide insight and feedback. By sharing your recommendations, and suggestions, you can play an important role in ensuring that the program aligns with the industry's needs, embraces best practice, and cultivates professionals who are well-prepared to address the challenges facing the highways and transportation sector in Wales.
The consultation is open until 30 September. If you would like to contribute to the CIHT response please email your feedback to education@ciht.org.uk or to respond on behalf of your employer please complete the survey on the CITB page.
We encourage all members, and employers involved in the highways and transportation sector in Wales to take part in this consultation process. By collectively contributing to the design of this ground-breaking apprenticeship program, the industry can shape the future of civil engineering apprenticeships in Wales.
If you are interested in apprenticeships in highways and transportation you can find out more about existing apprenticeship schemes.
