CIHT Hong Kong 2023 Events report

CIHT Hong Kong have been going from strength to strength in 2023 organising and delivering over 15 successful events, ranging from the Half Day Seminar and Annual Dinner with over 100 attendees, to a webinar on the Yoho rotational bridge launching, several site visits and a Road Safety Audit Workshop.

Central Kowloon Route (CKR) Kai Tak West (Site Visit) - 25 March

CIHT Hong Kong organized a site visit Central Kowloon Route (CKR) Kai Tak West with Resident Site Staff from the Arup – Mott MacDonald Joint Venture. The site visit was fully booked with 20 attendees participating and taking part in a 3D slide show also. By the end of the site visit all participants had a good understanding of Central Kowloon Route (CKR) Kai Tak West project and how to deal with challenges on site.

 

Heavy Lift and Transportation Yard (Site Visit) - 29 April

CIHT Hong Kong organized a site visit with 15 participants to the Heavy Lift and Transportation Yard with Set Win Group, Alan Kan, Max Lo, Charles Chow, and Ryan Lai in April 2023. At the end of the site visit, all participants understood the latest technological developments in heavy lifting.

              
Road Safety Audit Workshop (Site Visit) - 8 July

CIHT Hong Kong organized a Road Safety Audit Workshop with CHAUSSEES Limited's director, Julian Kwong in July 2023. 15 young engineers participated in 2 online webinars and 1 day on-site practice in West Kowloon District. Upon completion, all participants understood how to conduct the on-site Road Safety Audit as RSA observer.

The group attended a briefing at Kowloon Station, discussed the Austin Road West / Nga Cheung Road elevated roundabout and observed live traffic at Austin Road East. CIHT Hong Kong would like to thank Julian Kwong for delivering this valuable session for us. Julian addressed important road safety problems relating to alignment, junctions, signage, roadside design, pedestrian facilities, etc. for a variety of road and traffic projects.
