Sue Percy CBE, Chief Executive, CIHT said:

“It is a great to be a supporter of International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) which is celebrating its ten-year anniversary this year. INWED promotes the incredible work that female engineers do across the globe while inspiring more women and girls to take up careers as professionals in the highways, transportation and infrastructure sector.”

“CIHT champions for greater Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) within the sector. Through activities including our CIHT Awards, we celebrate achievements while providing day-to-day best practice and guidance for organisations to attract and retain a progressive workforce.”

“Following the launch of our EDI strategy (Shifting the Dial) in 2022, we are excited to announce that we will shortly launch our new EDI Charter to ensure commitment within the sector becomes meaningful action and that the bar is continually raised.”

CIHT is supporting this event through a wide variety of initiatives that highlight the work we do to support women in engineering. Features include:

Karen McShane, President, CIHT said:

“INWED gives us the opportunity to work towards our goal of building a more inclusive transport system. To achieve this, we need to have a diverse workforce and to bring in the new ideas that they will deliver. We need to provide opportunities for all sectors to become involved to ensure that we can deliver a truly inclusive society.”

“CIHT continues to promote Equality Diversity and Inclusion, and this positions us as a leading institution who understand the importance of a diverse workforce. We are proud of this being one of our strategic themes and we will continue to embrace the changes that we need for an inclusive transport system.”

“CIHT will work with the wider highways, transportation and infrastructure sector and provide clear leadership and the necessary dedication to ensure that diversity can happen. Throughout my time as President, I want to continue to promote EDI and expand the debate further into an equitable future for all.”
