CIHT Yorkshire & the Humber are delighted to host our first EDI panel discussion which includes CIHT President - Karen McShane, Chief Executive at TfN - Martin Tugwell, and Managing Director at SCP Infrastructure Design - Steve Carmody.
Members are invited to join the discussion and ask their questions to the panel.
Due to the limited places available, we would also welcome members to submit their questions in advance if they are unable to attend / the event if fully booked and a write-up will be available afterwards.
We welcome members to attend our first EDI panel discussion in the region and a chance to meet with the CIHT President, Karen McShane.
The panellists will share their thoughts with members on equality, diversity and inclusion in the sector, and will discuss topics such as are we doing enough and what more can be done both in the public space and in the workplace, and how can we best provide for the diverse communities that we serve?
This event provides a great opportunity for networking and a chance to ask the panel your questions face to face.

Karen McShane, CIHT President
Karen McShane is the current President for CIHT. She is a Chartered Engineer with over 35 years of experience having worked in local government and consultancy. She joined the Strategic Investment Board as an adviser in 2012 and works part time on regionally significant projects within Northern Ireland as well as being an industry member of the Legislatives Assembly All Party Group for Construction.
Karen is passionate about EDI and sits on CIHT's EDI panel.
Martin Tugwell, Chief Executive, Transport for the North
Martin Tugwell is responsible for transforming pan-Northern connectivity in order to improve productivity and drive economic growth.
He leads Transport for the North as England’s first Sub-national Transport Body, giving the North a strong, unified and determined voice on transport investment to benefit the region.
Martin is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow and past President of the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). He is a Trustee of the CIHT and past Chairman of the Transport Planning Society.
Steve Carmody, Managing Director, SCP Infrastructure Design
As SCP Infrastructure (part of RSK) Managing Director, Steve leads Infrastructure design, management and planning for a range of Private and Public schemes. Steve also has a strategic role directing and controlling business operations. Steve has a key role in growth, performance and quality of the business and leads the strategy for the future of the infrastructure team in the UK.
