This webinar will cover an overview of the Individual Route with a focus on the 3 stage Technical Report assessment process.
You will hear from two of CIHT's Individual Route assessors, Richard Llewellyn and David Meller, who will discuss the Technical Report route and offer some expert advice on how applicants can fulfil the AHEP (4th edition) learning outcomes. The presenters will also discuss the recent changes which have been implemented to help ensure that applicants align their evidence to the requirements.
Upon successful completion of the Technical Report process, applicants are eligible to proceed to the Professional Review stage.

Richard has worked in the highways and transportation industry for over 25 years. The first 15 years of his career were spend in consultancy, where he led a team of he led a team of transport practitioners across two offices, working on a number of high profile projects across the UK and internationally. For the past 10 years he has been a university lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University, where he is Programme Leader for the BEng/MEng Civil and Transportation Engineering degree in addition to teaching on the MSc Transport Planning and Engineering programme.
He has been a reviewer on the Individual Route Assessment Panel since 2020 and regularly conducts Technical Report assessments of candidates applying through that route. Richard also oversees the panel’s activities in relation to the wider activities of the CIHT through his role as Chair of the institution’s Education and Professional Development Strategy Board.

David has almost 40 years’ experience in the highways and transportation industry, ranging from initial feasibility studies through detailed design to construction and commissioning. He has mentored engineers and technicians seeking professional qualifications at CEng, IEng and EngTech and prides himself on the fact that no candidate he has mentored has failed their professional review in over 20 years.
Having been a professional reviewer for CIHT since 2007, he joined the Individual Route Assessment Panel in 2014 and has been conducting Technical Report assessments since then, becoming panel chair in 2021. He has been involved in CIHT’s implementation of new procedures to ensure compliance with the Engineering Council’s new standards published in 2020 and is also currently involved with the pilot Experiential Route for CEng.
