If you are joining from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), this seminar will begin at 18:00 PM Gulf Standard Time United Arab Emirates Time.
Hosted by CIHT Dubai, this seminar looks at the current state of RSA in the UAE and GCC Region, evolving requirements and some of the common issues arising both in scheme design and responding to RSA reports.
This is an online event, attendance at this Seminar is free, but registration is mandatory.
Road Safety Audit (RSA) is a critical process in ensuring the highest levels of safety on highway schemes. Building on previous CIHT Dubai seminars, the event offers a highly useful recap for anyone involved in the design and implementation of highway projects as well as those concerned with reducing the number of people killed or injured in road traffic crashes.
In addition, the seminar will consider what the future holds for road safety. This applies to both problem definition and analysis, as well as recommendations, within RSA as technology, data and analytics advance. For example, it may be that one day when all vehicles on the road are fully connected and autonomous, road safety in respect of human factors in driving may no longer be a priority, but what is the approach until we get to this point? How do we deal with the problems caused by the transition to driverless cars? How should other new vehicle types such as e-scooters or micro-vehicles be treated? Will we see new safety problems arise over a period when we have a mix of SAE Level 0 and Level 5 Autonomous Vehicles on our roads?
How will technology shape the future of identification of road safety problems and recommendations for their resolution? Can 3D Modelling, Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality help to identify problems better than traditional RSA practices? Will the automated analysis of data and new forms of computer processing be able to predict – and resolve – problems better than an experienced road safety engineer?
These are difficult questions with a high degree of uncertainty, but this seminar will aim to provide some directions of travel and predictions of how road safety policy and practice is heading.
