Led by CIHT Scotland. This event presented by Ian Burrows and Chris Wroe of O2 Telephonica will provide an overview of their work with O2 Motion which has evidenced the changing population and mobility patterns that have been caused by the covid-19 pandemic.
O2 Motion is at the leading edge of mobile network data and insights in the UK, resulting from continuous investment over the last 7 years. This investment enables unique and timely data outputs to be developed.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, O2 Motion has been providing daily insight to a host of Local and Central Government departments as well as other organisations across the Country and has been applied at the highest Government level.
The pandemic continues to reshape behaviours and the way people travel and indeed how data insight is now moving from a static one off point in time to a continuous ‘always on’ data led approach.
The session will cover an overview of O2 Motion followed by an overview and unique continuous perspective into how different segments of the population have been responding to the pandemic and more recently the easing from lockdown. As we move out of lockdown, we will cover how this data can help you measure, plan and monitor population, demographics.
The session is aimed at everyone with a transport infrastructure interest, ranging from Strategic Planning, including Development and Transport Planning, through to Highway operations and infrastructure operators.
Ian joined O2 in the summer of 2018 after working in transport consultancy for 20 years.
Since joining O2, Ian leads the Transportation and Public Sector offer across the O2 Motion team. O2 Motion delivers innovative and leading edge dynamic mobile network data insights across a range of sectors and clients.
During Ian’s career, he has provided advice, expertise and insights to a wide range of public sector customers and private sector clients.
The unique scale and capability of the data insight at O2 has enabled Ian to provide clients and customers a truly data driven solution, in turn allowing them to generate evidence based decisions.
Chris has worked at O2 for five years having previously worked in transport consultancy and at Transport for London.
Chris leads the technical developments for O2’s data insight products across the transport, retail and media sectors. Chris led O2’s work to create data outputs for use in transport planning, collaborating with the Department for Transport to create guidelines on the use of mobile network in transport models.
More recently Chris has been working with the O2 motion team to create products to help customers understand the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on travel demand across the UK.
