Industry leaders gathered for the prestigious Yorkshire & the Humber Annual Awards Dinner last week. Taking place on Friday 20 September 2019 at the Hilton Hotel, Leeds, they highlighted best practice, professionalism and emerging talent across the industry.
Welcomed by James Leeming, CIHT Yorkshire & the Humber Chair, the guests celebrated the achievements of private and public sector partners in delivering complex projects and individuals who have shown great talent.

This award recognises an apprentice or technician who is an achiever in our industry. The judges are looking for the person that has best demonstrated a positive impact in the field of highways or transportation in the Yorkshire and the Humber region and who is making an exceptional contribution to their workplace.
The aim of the Award is to celebrate individual excellence in transportation planning and/or civil engineering within the highways or transportation sector.

This award recognises the best small project, study or scheme valued at £1million or under completed over the last 18 months within the Yorkshire & the Humber region, i.e. a scheme developed or delivered within the region or a study based upon an area within the region that illustrates best practice across a range of criteria. Note any scheme submitted for a CIHT Yorkshire & and the Humber Region award in previous years is not allowed to be entered again. The scheme or study will have been delivered by a group or team that can be seen as ambassadors for our profession and who will have demonstrated excellence in the planning or engineering field within the highways and transportation industry.

The criterion for the award is simply that it is made “to a young person with less than 10 years experience in the industry, who is considered to have provided a significant active role within the Region by their contribution to an interesting or notable project.” The aim of the Award is to celebrate individual excellence in Transport Planning and/or Civil Engineering within the highways and transportation sector.

Joining us this year is the fantastic Lea Roberts!
Lea is a comedian, after dinner speaker and awards host from Halifax.
Since winning the TV Series “Stand Up Britain” back in 2002 Lea has become one of the most sought-after and well-known faces on the after dinner circuit, working all over the UK and abroad.
Magician
Also joining us on the evening will be Jason Rea, a Close-Up Magician who performs around the world.
From producing thought of playing cards from a flash of fire, vanishing borrowed items in a cloud of smoke and making a signed bank note appear inside a lemon. It is this level of skill and dexterity that keeps Jason in demand as one of the most sort after Magicians in the UK.
