Two-thirds of global population will live in cities by 2050, as estimated by the UN. Today, around 55% of the world's population is thought to be living in an urban area or city, with that figure set to rise to 68% shortly. After a decade of experimentation, Smart Cities are now entering a new phase. Although they are only one part of the full tool kit for making a city great, digital solutions seem to be the most powerful and cost-effective additions to that tool kit in many years.
This presentation illustrates some of PTV’s main contributions in current applications that enable cities to improve quality-of-life indicators, and offers the opportunity for exchanging ideas and thoughts on what is currently being done in the Region and beyond.

Claudio Bonomi Savignon is the Head of East GCC & Turkey for PTV Group based in Doha, Qatar. Claudio is a Civil Engineer with over 15 years of experience in the industry spent between Rome, London and Doha. He has been based in Doha for over 7 years - previously working for the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy seconded from Arup, and later for WSP in the Middle East. He is also a Chartered engineer with CIHT, CILT, Qatar (MMUP) and Italy and a visiting lecturer in Transport at Rome Tor Vergata University.
