This talk will cover the National Highways Net Zero Carbon Plan that was published in July 2021.
The speakers will intend to cover the plan in some detail, including:
Anybody that works within the Construction and Built Environment sector, with particular focus on colleagues within the Transportation and Highways Sectors as well as, Local Authorities, Joint Partnerships, Non-Governmental Organisations and Private Sector Consultancies.
Within National Highways, we have highlighted that everyone can play their part in achieving net zero by 2050 and we see that being the case throughout the sector.
Mark Emmet, Net Zero Carbon and Environmental Sustainability Team Leader at National Highways
Mark is an Incorporated Engineer who joined the Net Zero Carbon and Environmental Sustainability Team in National Highways in October 2021. Mark previously worked in the Welsh Government, where he was the Climate Change Programme Manager in the Transport Directorate. In that role, he led on air quality, carbon and climate change related activities.
Mark has worked in the industry for over 20 years in both the public and private sector. He initially gained experience in the fields of traffic and road safety engineering and after joining the Welsh Government in 2015, further broadened his knowledge through his appointment as a Trunk Road Area Manager.
Mark began to focus on work to mitigate and prevent climate change issues within Wales in 2017, but that rapidly expanded, through the need to take immediate steps to reduce carbon emissions and consider the wider environmental impacts of managing and improving surface transport networks
