This event will consist of 5 presentations looking at Low Emission Zones, each speaker will bring a different angle to really give an in depth view of low emission zones, how they are working and how they effect people.
Andrea Mackie, Transport Officer, The City of Edinburgh Council
Andrea’s presentation will cover the approach taken to developing LEZs in Edinburgh, an overview of the proposals, and how LEZs will be integrated into wider transport
Gavin Thomson, Friends of the Earth
Gavin’s presentation will cover: Low Emission Zones, a health and legal necessity in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee. Current status, good practice, things to be wary of. What does the next ten years in transport look like for Scottish cities? Overview of policy, legislation, trends.
Dr Colin Gillespie, Principal Air Scientist & Tanith Allinson Scottish Environment Protection Agency
Colin and Tanith’s presentations will cover Low Emission Zones, how they are being modelled and implemented across Scotland and what is SEPA’s role is in the process. Their presentation will also cover National Low Emission Framework and Air Quality action planning.
Graeme Sneddon, Communications Officer (Scotland/Research), British Lung Foundation
Graeme’s presentation will be highlighting the impact of air pollution on people with lung conditions, including research funded by the BLF on this subject and how Low Emission Zones can help to reduce hospital admissions and protect people with lung conditions from the harmful effects of air pollution.
Fraser Crichton, Corporate Fleet Operations Manager, Dundee City Council
Fraser’s presentation will cover the promotion of electric vehicles, de-carbonising Dundee City Council's fleet and promoting EVs to the general public and the council's role in that.
