The CIHT South West region is excited to bring you the 2023 Presentation Competition!
Being able to present effectively whilst engaging your audience and, subsequently, being able to field challenging technical questions is a key skill for those working in the transportation industry. Whether engaging stakeholders, making a case for investment, or presenting project outputs to your client group, presenting is an essential skill.
If you’re an Emerging Professional in the first ten years of your career, we’re keen to give you a platform to develop your presentation skills, and an opportunity for you to earn some kudos (and a prize!) at the same time.
We recognise that the highways and transportation industry in the South West is expansive, covering many sectors. This offers a wealth of potential. We don’t want to constrain the discussion - this is an opportunity for you to shine, sharing your interests.
What we are looking for is:
• A 150-word abstract outlining the content of your presentation.
• A 10-minute presentation on an industry-related topic of your choice;
Your presentation will be delivered virtually via an online platform. The audience will include CIHT members who register to watch, and a judging panel featuring the region’s Emerging Professional Chairs and previous winner Lauren Allington. Following your presentation, the judging panel and audience will ask you questions on your presentation.
Great! Please submit a 150-word abstract of your presentation, via the online submission form, by Friday 1st December 2023. We also encourage all members in the region to join and support our emerging professionals.
Successful applicants will be contacted to present their submissions at the competition in 2024. If needed, heats will take place in early February 2024 and the final will take place on Thursday 21st March 2024.
