Daniel Jackson

Chair 

Daniel is Senior Business Development Manager at Farrans Construction. He is a Fellow of CIHT and is educated with a BSc (Hons) Construction Management that he proudly achieved whilst studying part time. He has 20 years industry experience covering both commercial and operational roles.

 

Daniel joined the East Midland Branch committee (now East of England region) in 2010 and became a nominated member of Council in 2011 serving a three year term. After relocating to NW London he joined CIHT London region in 2016.

He is the current Chair of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) Transport Group and Water Group.

Karen Agbabiaka

Vice Chair 

Karen is a Chief Officer for a local authority and accountable for a number of key services. Karen has over 30 years’ experience in the industry and is renowned for her technical knowledge, strategic direction and implementation of government initiatives and managing complex issues within highly political and pressurised environments that are constantly in the public eye. 

Priyanka Sonawane

Secretary 

Priyanka is an Engineer at Momentum Transport Consultancy, where her professional journey is driven by a deep commitment to creating innovative, sustainable solutions for urban transportation challenges.

At Momentum, she has been involved in all project stages, from initial concepts to detailed designs, focusing on highway, junction, and public realm design, as well as site access strategies and vehicle tracking. Priyanka’s passion lies in designing people-friendly streets and public spaces to improve urban connectivity, accessibility, and overall quality of life.

Vincent Valerio

Treasurer

Vincent is a Regional Director for Waterman Aspen, with over 20 years experience spread over local government and consultancy.  

He is passionate about supporting the next generation of Engineers and hoping to devote time in his CIHT role to do so. Has an academic background of Building Studies, Law, Transportation Planning and Management and is a Chartered Manager. 
 
He is keen to work with his fellow CIHT committee to spread the word for the organisation and start the right conversations in industry and beyond!

Deone Costley

Programme & Events Coordinator 

Deone is a Senior Engineer in the Urban Highways Design at Arcadis UK. He is a Member of CIHT and has over 9 years industry experience covering both client and consultant roles.

 

Deone started his career as a Civil Engineer Apprentice where he developed urban design engineering, routine maintenance planning and project development skills. He then moved to work at various consultants working in both rural and urban settings, designing traffic management schemes such as HGV route signage, 20mph zone and limits, traffic calming schemes, pedestrian improvement schemes, road safety enhancements, cycle schemes and bus route improvement schemes.

Deon joined Arcadis in 2019 and continues to work on a series of urban realm schemes but more recently has been working on HS2 coordinating secure access provisions to various assets.

Hari Roy

EDI Officer

Hari is a Transport Consultant at Arcadis UK. He has over six year’s of experience working within Transport Planning, specialising in EV Strategy development and fleet electrification work.

He graduated from Royal Holloway University of London, having studied Geography BA (Hons), focussing on urban regeneration, cities and development, mobility, geopolitics and smart cities. Hari has also obtained his APM PMQ Level D qualification for Project Management. He is currently working towards his chartership (CTPP).

Hari began his career solely focusing on the development of microsimulation models using VISSIM. He then transitioned to focus more on Development Planning related projects, undertaking Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Active Travel Reports, EIAs, feasibility studies, and due diligence reports for a wide range of development types for both private and public sector clients. For the past few years, Hari has primarily been focussing on decarbonising road transport through the development of EV Strategies, forecasting models, and app development to support the selection of suitable sites for electric vehicle charging infrastructure (EVCI).

He also has first-hand experience working on the client side as an in-house consultant, supporting on the roll out of EVCI, through securing grant funding, site selection and assessment, managing the installation of EVCI and monitoring the charging network.

Hari is a member of CIHT, and is passionate about seeing representation and diversity within the Transportation sector. He is also keen to learn and promote truly inclusive designs and to ensure we adopt an EDI lens when developing, assessing and reviewing designs for the natural and built environment.

Annika Davies 

Emerging Professionals Chair 

Annika is a Senior Transport Planner at SLR Consulting with 7-years’ experience in transport planning.

Annika currently works in development planning and supports planning applications for a variety of uses for both private and public sector clients.

Michelle Wood

Committee member

Michelle Wood is a Transport Planner with 30 years’ experience in transport planning. Currently, she leads the technical development team of PTRC, the transport planning training arm of CILT. 

Besides the UK, Michelle has worked in Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Caribbean, Europe, and Middle East for World Bank, Asia Development Bank, United Nations Development Programme and European Bank. She has been based in London, Beijing, Hong Kong, Dubai and Qatar.

Michelle is a Fellow of CIHT, Chartered Transport Planning Professional, a TPP reviewer, mentor and on the CIHT Committees of London and Hong Kong covering professional development.

Stelios Rodoulis

Committee member 

Stelios currently works in the Digital Solutions Development Hub at Jacobs, supporting a portfolio of emerging and existing technologies. Stelios has 10 years’ experience in the transport industry. His academic background includes transport and urban planning. 

Stelios has graduated from the London School of Economics, University of Reading and Westminster University.

Stelios is passionate about driverless technology and its impact on cities. He was a member of the Volterra Jacobs team which was one of the finalists for the Wolfson Economics Prize 2017, the largest economics prize in the world after the Nobel Prize. The team’s proposal to combat congestion and ensure the sustainability of future road maintenance, included a combination of dynamic road pricing, CAVs and Blockchain.


Stelios is a forward looking individual with a keen eye for the bigger picture, especially with regards to the interaction of urban and transport planning with technology.

Farhad Hassani

Committee member

Farhad is a Prof. in Highway Transportation Engineering Concrete Pavement Design. He is a fellow of CIHT and is educated with BSc in Transport systems, MSc in Highway and Transportation from Birmingham University followed with PhD in Flexible Concrete Pavement from Westminster University. 

He is currently a full Professor at (Tarbiat Modares University) TMU. He has over 30 years academic
experience as well as research and practice experience in different aspect of pavements. He has published over 100 research papers in journals over the years. He has also served as committee member of concrete durability and properties at TRB for 12 years.

Navid Golshan

Committee member

Navid is the Operational Delivery Lead within Transport for London’s Rail and Sponsored Services directorate.

Navid is a Chartered professional with over 20 years experience in a variety of Client, Consultancy and Operational environments in the management and delivery of public transport schemes. Navid has previously acted as the Chair of the Institution of Civil Engineer’s G&S East of England region and served as member on its Transport Board. 

Jamie Ward

Committee member

Jamie is a Transport Planner at Ramboll, where he has gained a breadth of UK and international experience developing sustainable transport strategies and masterplans; supporting planning applications for many mixed-use developments; and appraising transport infrastructure using industry-standard tools.

He is focused on providing sustainable transport solutions which meet the needs of all users. Jamie also undertook a part-time MSc in Transport Planning at the Institute for Transport Studies, Leeds (graduating Autumn 2023), where his dissertation research focused on the competitive and complementary relationships between shared bicycles and public transport in London.

Jamie joined the CIHT London committee in 2023. Outside of work, Jamie also volunteers with the Scouts.
